When you use your phone’s wireless connection to score a round, are you being charged minutes?
Most current web ready cell phones do not have the capability to run software without a connection. This is changing with the new java enabled phones, and our application will support these in the near future. Some carriers do subtract minutes for web connect time; Verizon, Sprint, Cingular. Others charge just a one time monthly fee for web use; AT&T, Nextel. But not all is lost! When using the application with a carrier that charges minutes, simply input the information, then switch the phone back into voice mode to minimize your usage. When you re-enter web mode without powering off your phone, you will be right back on the web screen that you left when you switched modes.

What is Roundcast and how do I get access to use it?
Roundcast is an eGolfScore feature that allows a member to broadcast the round they are scoring to a predetermined list of viewers, so they can follow along as you play. COURSES

What exactly are Favorite Courses?
Your Favorite Courses is a list of the courses you play most frequently. This list allows you to simplify your data entry, by storing your most used courses, and allowing you to select these courses from different areas within the eGolfScore service. It is also important to have this profile established if you are using eGolfScore's wireless applications, since all course selections on these devices originate from this list.

If I can't find a particular course, how can I add it?
We are striving to provide our users with the most comprehensive list of golf courses available. However, as we build this list, there will be courses that you have played that have not yet been entered into our system. There are two ways to get a course added. You can send us an email requesting that the information be added, or you can add it yourself. To add the course yourself, search for the course using the Find / View Courses option under My Courses. If the course is not listed, click on the Add Course option, and a data entry screen will allow you to add the course information.

If I add a course or a tee to the database and make a mistake, how can I correct it?
If you make a mistake while adding a new course or tee, please email eGolfScore support with the corrections that need to be made and we will edit the information. At this time there is no way for a member to edit the information once it has been saved to the database.

HANDICAP

I entered a score and I don't have an estimated handicap. Why?
A handicap represents a view of your potential. You need a minimum of five golf scores for it to be calculated. Once you’ve entered five scores, you can go to the handicap estimator to view it.

I entered five scores but my estimated handicap seems too low. Is something wrong?
Probably not. With only five scores entered, your handicap is calculated with only the best score. Given that it is the lowest score, your handicap will tend to be lower than if it was calculated with the best ten out of your last twenty games. As you enter more scores your handicap will probably rise. If your handicap seems totally out of range, it may be possible that you entered an incorrect score. The slope or rating numbers for that course may also be incorrect.

What is a good handicap?
While there is really no “good” handicap (it’s all relative to your skill level), a 12 handicap looks good when your currently a 13 handicap. However, there are a number of different handicaps classifications. One such classification divides handicaps into four player sections (A <12; B 12-20; C 21-30; D >30).

Is my eGolfscore handicap an official USGA handicap?
eGolfScore handicap calculations are provided for entertainment value only. It does not nor is it intended to provide or replace an official United States Golf Association (USGA) handicap. For an official USGA handicap, please visit the USGA web site at www.usga.org.
